One year has passed since 40 of our brothers were returned from Thailand to China last week. Those brothers had hoped for justice from the world and expected help from us, their brothers and sisters living in exile. Although our activists made every possible effort, Thailand did not stand on the side of justice but on the side of money. China used all of its diplomatic and economic power, and despite warnings from countries such as the United States and the United Nations, it once again achieved its goal of ensuring that Uyghurs find no peace anywhere in the world.
Although a year has passed since this incident occurred, the pain it caused in our hearts has not been forgotten. While international discussions about this issue may have quieted over time, the pressure, oppression, and hardship faced by those brothers only grow with time.
China tries to make people forget such acts of brutality by remaining silent in the face of criticism and by using delay as a strategy.
Therefore, I call on international organizations not to forget the Uyghurs who were returned from Thailand and to continue demanding information from China about their safety. I also commend and express my gratitude to the activists who have continued their efforts on this issue without stopping.
